A BetterLiving Pressure Relief Cushion for general daily use, this multi-purpose cushion is best suited to people at lower risk of pressure injury, with a mild need for postural support.
The BetterLiving® Pressure Relief Cushion is made from two layers of specialised foam for added comfort and improved pressure redistribution capabilities. This means that pressure is more evenly dispersed over the skin's surface when seated, rather than being focused on certain pressure points that can lead to pressure injury. With a high-density foam support base for extra stability and a super soft memory foam top layer for optimum comfort on any chair, the BetterLiving® Pressure Relief Cushion can be used throughout the day to minimise the risk of pressure damage to the vulnerable buttocks and thigh region. The cushion includes a two-way stretch, incontinence-proof cover for enhanced anti-shear and anti-friction benefits. The seams on the cover are stitched to make them extra strong, and heat welded over the top of the stitching for maximum infection control by stopping the build-up of bacteria in the seams and moisture from getting through.
The BetterLiving® Pressure Relief Cushion cover features a rear zipper for easy removal and cleaning, with a waterfall skirt flap that covers the zip to stop moisture or fluids from seeping through into the cushion. Shear and friction are two factors that contribute to the risk of pressure injury forces that come into play when someone has limited mobility. Friction is caused when the skin is dragged across a surface. Shear is caused when two forces move in opposing directions, such as skin and bone moving in parallel, causing the deformation of tissue. Both factors usually work together, especially in the case of someone who is seated on a cushion for long periods, and constantly dragging themselves back up and onto the seat. The stretch design of this fabric helps to prevent these forces from occurring.
